• What is Hypnosis:
Hypnosis is a natural state. In fact, most of us if not all of us, go into trance like state (day-dreaming) everyday, if not several times a day, without even being aware of it. When driving, have you ever found yourself arriving somewhere but not remembering taking certain turns and wondering how you got there? Do you find yourself crying at a good movie because something had happened to one of the characters? What about the time when you are reading a good book and got goose bumps during one of the scary parts? These are examples of the hypnotic state and how the conscious mind is bypassed and positive and/or negative suggestions are received and acted upon by the subconscious mind. When reading the book you know there's no danger, however the critical thinking of the conscious mind was bypassed and the feelings you would get if you were actually there, are felt instead.
So, all hypnosis is self hypnosis and the Hypnotist only acts as a facilitator who guides you into that trance-like state where suggestions are received and acted upon by your subconscious mind.
• What is the Subconscious Mind?
It is the storehouse for all of the experiences we have had throughout our live. It is the storehouse of your memories, habits, intuition, instincts, addictions and compulsions. Its nature is very childlike. It likes to have fun, be creative and it's the center of your imagination. It enjoys routines and moves into methodical procedures quite easily. It learns very well with a lot of repetition... 80-90% of what we do on any given day is operated by our subconscious mind.
• Is Hypnosis Dangerous? Can't I get stuck in Hypnosis?
No, the worst things that can happen in hypnosis is that you could fall asleep, only to wake up normally a few minutes later feeling refreshed and renewed from the experience.
• Will I say or do something I don't want to do?
Some people believe that while in hypnosis you can be forced to reveal secrets about yourself and others. However, since a client is aware of everything while being hypnotized, this surely could not happen. People can talk if necessary, but can fib just as easily.
• Can anyone go into Hypnosis?
Yes, anyone can go into hypnosis. All that is needed for a successful session is your willingness to participate, trust in the process and the facilitator and a creative imagination.
• How does it feel to be hypnotized?
Everybody experiences hypnosis differently. Some report a tingling sensation in their hands and feet. Other report heaviness in their arms and legs. You can talk, answer questions and move in response to instructions that are given to you. Most people find hypnosis as a relaxing and pleasant experience. Even better, a 30 minute session is equivalent to 4-6 hours of restorative sleep.
• How many sessions will it take?
It depends on the individual and his or her goals. 90% of clients find success in just one session. Many issues, including smoking, can be resolved in just one session. For Weight Reduction, it will take 3 sessions to accomplish your goal.
